Beth Israel Sisterhood

Who is Sisterhood? image

Beth Israel Sisterhood is the backbone of CBI! They are a phenomenal group of women, deeply involved in every aspect of running the shul. Members of Sisterhood often organize and lead Shabbat and holiday services. Many of our social and educational programs are organized by Sisterhood. They regularly bring in speakers, hold book reviews, and plan field trips. They also maintain our library.

Sisterhood takes sole responsibility for maintaining our kosher kitchen. Lots of wonderful treats come from that kitchen! They prepare kiddushim for Shabbatot and holidays, and serve numerous Shabbat dinners throughout the year. Our Sisterhood is known for their delicious challahs, hamentashen and pies. For Yom Kippur they prepare an elaborate break-the-fast for all to enjoy.

When it comes to fundraising, Beth Israel Sisterhood women are experts. They never rest, holding fundraisers year around. Their annual endeavors include: a Holiday Bazaar and Bake Sale; an annual Donor Ad Book; and a huge Rummage Sale. They also maintain a gift shop, filled with beautiful Judaica.

Beth Israel Sisterhood is an affiliate of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. They are proud supporters of Israel, the regional and national Women’s League affiliates, and give yearly contributions to the Jewish Theological Seminary of Conservative Judaism. Sisterhood welcomes new members and new ideas. What a wonderful way to become involved in the Flint Jewish Community! For more information call the synagogue office, 810-732-6310.
